In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Christine Rodriguez. Christine is a social worker, Vedic astrologer, and yoga teacher based out of Austin, Texas. She worked for years in social work while discovering her passion for fusing mental wellness techniques with Vedic philosophy. Christine is also the host of AstrologyNow podcast and the creator of the Inner Knowing Vedic Coaching Program where she teaches individuals how to curate a life of meaning, clarity, and authenticity utilizing ancient wisdom with a modern approach.
During our conversation, we delved into the intriguing distinctions between Western astrology and Vedic (Sidereal) astrology, highlighting the precision and authenticity of the Vedic system. While Western astrology focuses on the position of the sun in relation to the Earth, Vedic astrology takes into account the actual positions of the planets. In the Western tropical system, the sun holds the utmost importance as a sign, whereas in Vedic astrology, the lunar-based system considers the moon placement in the chart as the most significant factor.
We explored various nuances of Vedic astrology, such as the significance of Nakshatras (lunar mansions) and how each planet has its own ruling Nakshatra. We briefly discussed the importance of the rising sign and touched upon the 12 houses and the planetary rulers and their significance in the different doshas. It was fascinating to learn how specific planetary placements activate certain energies within us.
The purpose of astrology, as Christine eloquently explained, is to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, enabling us to live more fulfilling lives. The birth chart serves as a tool for personal growth, evolution, and transcendence. We also emphasized the importance of having an accurate birth time for precise astrological readings.
Christine's expertise and passion for Vedic astrology shone through in our conversation, leaving listeners with a greater appreciation for the profound insights and guidance this ancient practice can offer. Whether you are new to astrology or a seasoned enthusiast, this episode will undoubtedly deepen your understanding and inspire you to explore the transformative power of Vedic astrology.
